Bringing back the love for Theatrical Plays

PART 1

I am so excited to write something so different on my blog for the very first time! Please share and comment if you like it!

All throughout my life I had only heard about 'Theatrical Plays'. This era being all about movie theaters on big screen has probably blindsided the essence of entertainment through real performances on stage. The genre in plays are as versatile as in the movies. What we, as masses fail to realize that the on stage drama has so much more to it, than we can ever imagine. Believe me, it's a live show and there's no room for mistakes!

I am grateful that I finally got to witness the first play 'Algattya Balgattya'. Yep, before you go judging, we had no idea this play was meant for kids! We ended up in the theater shocked to see kids surrounded and we started re-considering our decision but luckily enough, we thought we might as well give it a shot and boy, did we enjoy it! It was of course very fictional and funny in a childish manner but we were in awe with the performers, the stage set up, the perfect and flawless dialogues. Mind you, it was in Marathi and because we don't generally speak clean and crisp Marathi, it was tricky to catch on to the dialogues but we eventually got a hang of it.

The play was a fictional story about a witch, not a regular witch but a witty and a sarcastic one! This character stole the show. The props were spot on, the makeup of the witch was a freaky one, the light set up was something that was surely thought out thoroughly with minute details to create an environment from dark and dingy to light and playful. The energy levels were roof high and the story line of a witch, a goon and a princess was surely a good laugh for the evening! We left with a smile on our faces, love and respect in our hearts!

I do not know the background of the actors and director but I sure as hell know, they did an amazing job at it!

PART 2

One might be skeptical of, what can they pull off with the same set up for 2 hours and with almost same actors in this play. There are high chances of it being too boring, dull and draggy. This was nothing like that at all! This was the second play that I attended and I'm nothing but short in words to describe the brilliance of this play! (I'm still going to try though). A perfect Murder!

'Mainstream' plays are generally very comedy-centric (or my lack of knowledge tells me that, maybe) but this one is all about crime/thriller/suspense and it's attention to detail leaves you baffled no matter how much you try to nit pick any slips or try to guess what's going to happen next, it keeps you on your toes all the while till the very end! Being a huge fan of psychological thriller, crime and suspense genre, I was super excited to know how a Marathi play can turn out to be! Of course, we watched the trailer on @bookmyshowin

The essence and efforts of planning a murder will make you say, 'WHAT A PLAN!' and the way the protagonist has tried to hide it in every possible way is flawless and epic!

The actors on the other hand are the root of this play and because this play was all about dialogues, it was as smooth as reading it from the paper but with more grace, power and effortlessness! It was indeed a long one, but it becomes very obvious for the details they have added in the play, which made it stretch out a bit but I believe it was so so so worth it!

It makes me wonder, that these guys put so much of efforts that they cannot go wrong during the play. That's how much perfect you gotta be with your dialogues. It's a live freaking play! The amount of pressure is unimaginable but these guys pulled it off as if they would do it in their sleep!

I have immense love and respect for each and every one of their team, from script to story telling to acting and the little details of life, it truly was 'A Perfect Murder'. @aperfectmurdermarathiplay

Everyone reading this, please try out plays in Pune, Mumbai or wherever you are. You'll be missing an amazing part of art, if you miss this! ❤️🙌✌️
